Short Bio: associate professor of pedagogy and technology in the faculty of education at york university, has recently learned how to vermin proof her organic recycling bin and is thinking of starting a blog to document her progress in future garbage related endeavors. She has published not so widely, in a few areas and is now one of the many converts to the "Brain Age" cult. She is co-developing an educational game, "Contagion" with Suzanne de Castell and a team of graduate students, artists and programmers that focuses on contagious disease management, which has thus far been successful in teaching her good hand washing practices.

Short Bio: A professor in the faculty of education at Simon Fraser university specializing in literacy, new media and educational technologies, has published widely in too many fields to be plausible, has consistently failed "Brain Age" and is currently more invested in "Guitar Hero" than in producing any more long and tedious articles nobody reads. She works with Jen Jenson on a variety of digital game-focused projects, including the development of "Contagion", an educational game about personal and public health practices aimed at the management of of contagious diseases.

Short Bio: Cindy Poremba has recently joined Concordia University's Humanities Doctoral Program as a PhD candidate. Previously she was an Interactive Arts Lecturer in Simon Fraser University's School of Interactive Arts and Technology (SIAT). Her research explores the crafting of actuality in documentary digital games. She has presented work at the Life by Design: Digital Cultures symposium, the Level Up: Digital Games Research conference, the New Forms Festival and Entermultimediale 2. Cindy also works as a designer and curator of digital media, and has produced several exhibitions including the PoV Alternative Games Exhibition and eyeTEASers: Art Podified.

Short Bio: Jim Andrews has published vispo.com since 1995 as the centre of his artistic work. It is his 'book'. He is also a programmer and audio guy; the work on vispo.com includes Arteroids, a shoot-em-up interactive poem, Nio, a work of interactive audio and visual poetry, and On Lionel Kearns, a contemporary wreading of the work of one of Canada's pioneering digital poets. He co-moderates the -empyre- list and is currently working on an interactive audio piece called Jig-Sound.

Short Bio: Maia Engeli works in the area of telematic architectures for collaborative productive processes, learning, and entertainment and teaches, amongst others, level editing for first-person shooter games; she is Assistant Professor at the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University, BC, Canada. Until 2002 she was Assistant Professor and acting head of the chair for Architecture and CAAD at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. In 2001 she published the book "bits and spaces" and in 2000 the book "Digital Stories - The Poetics of Communication".

Short Bio: Lynn Hughes is a new media artist currently producing alternate gaming environments. She is co-director, with Jean Dubois, of the Interstices Research Group founded in 2000. (www.Interstices.ca). This interuniversity research group focuses on producing new media works that explore the aesthetic and poetic potential of interaction with the screen and sound via innovative custom designed physical/body interfaces. Lynn was instrumental in the conception, structuring and funding of Hexagram, the Montreal Institute for Research / Creation in Media Arts and Technologies (www.hexagram.org) and currently holds a Concordia Research Chair and teaches in the Studio Arts Department at Concordia University in Montreal.
